Mikey Grossman has won the city’s overall Employee of the Year award as well as Firefighter of the Year in his career with Keller Fire-Rescue, but perhaps his most coveted prize came earlier this month at the department’s annual banquet.
We’re proud to announce Grossman as our newest EMS Provider of the Year.
“EMS skills are vital in Keller; it’s the majority of what we run,” he said. “The department as a whole has a very high standard for EMS, so this is an award that I’ve always wanted.”
And it came just in time, Grossman joked, earning the honor just before learning he was being promoted, making him ineligible for the award in the future.
Grossman has worked in EMS for nearly 18 years, with 12 of them here in Keller, come the end of the month. He has loved being a Field Training Paramedic, he says, and looks forward to bringing those skills and standards for excellence into his new position working as a Captain out of A Shift, Station 1.
“Being an FTP, it’s not just about training new recruits,” he said. “It’s continuous training for the crews, being an advocate for protocols, innovating EMS and keeping Keller in the forefront when it comes to EMS care in the Metroplex. We’re recognized as being top tier, and we need to keep it that way.”
We know we’ll keep it that way with your help and leadership, Mikey. Congratulations!
