A statement released today concerning the jail accommodations of Ethan Couch.
All inmate’s housing classifications are routinely re-evaluated. Couch is in a single cell in the Tarrant County Corrections Center. He is locked in that cell 23 hours per day. One hour is spent in alone in a day room.
We do not generally discuss inmate housing assignments beyond the jail building listed on the County website. However, we maintain a wide spectrum of housing options throughout our system.
In NO sense can his current classification be considered “general population”.
Couch declined interviews the day he came into the Sheriff’s custody. This means for all and forever.
