TxDOT SH 26 RECONSTRUCTION PROJECT
Please send any questions, concerns, or comments to 26@colleyville.com.
The update for TxDOT’s SH 26 Project is unchanged from last week. The project is still scheduled for final completion on Sept. 29.
The southbound, outside (right) lane from Big Bear Creek bridge to John McCain Road will be closed for the next several weeks. The closure will help expedite work on landscaping and on the Cotton Belt Trail along that section of the roadway. The contractor continues to work on the Colleyville section of the Cotton Belt Trail, as well as median irrigation and landscaping.
The project is still slated for final completion on Sept. 29, but there will be some isolated work taking place for a few weeks after the final completion date. That work will include curb repairs, brick paver repairs, cleaning, and addressing standing water along John McCain Road.
SH 26 UTILITY RELOCATION PROJECT (City of Colleyville/Utility Franchises)
Please send any questions, concerns, or comments to 26@colleyville.com.
Relocating all of the city’s utilities along the corridor is now complete. Atmos is on track to complete their utility relocations in early October. Verizon should be done by late fall, and AT&T early next year.
This week Thompson Terrace at SH 26 will be closed to thru traffic from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. every day as the contractor places the new duct bank across the intersection. Traffic will be detoured from northbound Thompson Terrace to Old Glade Road. AT&T crews continue to work on a new duct bank on the east side of SH 26 from Professional Court to Thompson Terrace; at Glade Rd, and will be paving driveways this week. This will all be coordinated with the businesses as to not interfere with access to those businesses.
Atmos will complete the tie-ins to their new gas mains at various locations and will spend the rest of the week performing clean up as they finish relocation of their lines.
Time Warner will be doing aerial work in various locations and boring on the west side of SH 26 from John McCain Road to Tennison Parkway. Verizon will be boring near Tinker Road and at Oak Pointe Drive. No lane closures are expected.
PONDEROSA LANE/KINGSTON ADDITION IMPROVEMENTS
This project has been completed. We realize that road construction is disruptive and difficult, but we appreciate the patience and consideration of residents in the area.
PLEASANT RUN ROAD PROJECT
For anyone driving in the Dallas/Fort Worth area, it’s difficult to miss the boom in road construction. That boom has created shortages in materials needed for projects like Pleasant Run Road—especially materials for road surfaces. Furthermore, the companies that supply those materials give priority to larger projects—creating even longer delays in delivering materials for projects like Pleasant Run Road. While material shortages and heavy spring rains have had an impact on the project, the city’s construction manager worked to divert crews to other areas of the project to keep them working and to keep the project on track. Despite material shortages and weather, the Pleasant Run Road Project is ahead of schedule. We thank the residents in the area for their cooperation and patience—as well as all of those drivers who have avoided the area during construction.
Pleasant Run Road will be reduced to one lane from 7:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. in some areas this week. Please be prepared for delays.
Barring bad weather, the progress being made on this project will start being more visible during the next few weeks. This past week, crews placed new asphalt on the south side of the road from Church Street to Mission Lane. The 8’ trail, from Bogart Drive to Colleyville Terrace, is also in place.
Starting this Monday, crews will embark on another major milestone—working on the sidewalk and installing required ADA ramps on the west side of Pleasant Run Road. That work will begin on the north end of the project at Bogart Drive—progressing toward the south. At the same time, electrical crews will start drilling piers for new light foundations.
Pleasant Run Road remains closed to thru traffic from Mission Lane to Church Street and from Bogart Drive to Church Street. Entry and exit for residents, as well as all service and emergency vehicles will be from Church Street. All others should plan to use alternate routes: SH 26 to Hall-Johnson Road then to Bogart Drive or SH 26 to Church Street, then west to Bransford Road or SH 26.
WATER FACILITY RENEWAL
Area 1
McCain Lane and Bandit Trail will be reduced to one lane in some places while the contractor installs service from the existing 6” water line to the 12” transmission line on those streets.
Area 2
The contractor will be cleaning up and working on pavement on Reagan and Lowrie roads, and on Styles Lane.
