GFFA Local 3113 Endorses A.J. Pontillo for GCISD Trustee Place 5
For the first time, the Grapevine Professional Firefighters Association is endorsing a candidate in a school board election. We are proud to support A.J. Pontillo for GCISD Trustee in May.
A.J. has shown true leadership by standing with us in our fight to keep Grapevine Engine 1 open. He understands the importance of collaboration between GCISD and the Grapevine Firefighters Association—especially when it comes to school safety initiatives and supporting the partnership between Grapevine Fire and CTE’s Health Science Pathway, including an EMT class taught at Grapevine High School designed to help students earn their EMT certification before graduation.
Under A.J.’s leadership, GCISD has achieved:
- Over 252 students honored for academic excellence, national awards, and state championships
- An 89% increase in English proficiency for Emergent Bilingual students
- National recognition for music education and numerous athletic honors
- A School Resource Officer on every campus and layered security for student safety
- Record enrollment and industry certifications in Career & Technical Education, with real-world partnerships launching students into careers
- Consistent annual tax cuts, top financial transparency awards, and a fiscally responsible bond passed with ~70% voter support
