Mary Humphrey (Place 7)
These common sense leaders made the tough decision to consolidate two Elementary Schools to ensure long-term sustainability of the GCISD. Enrollment in the schools is down by 1900 students. School consolidations impact families, but hard decisions like these must be made.
The challengers want to raise your taxes and open enrollment. They support the use of Copper Pennies, which will raise your taxes by 18 million dollars. Copper Pennies are subject to Robinhood Recapture. Sixty percent of the tax increase will be sent back to Austin. This is not a fiscally responsible use of your tax dollars.
Do not elect the ‘tax and spend’ challengers. The conservative board majority has found creative ways to keep more of your taxes in our district. The conservative board incumbents in this race, A.J., Dianna, and Mary, have shown up to community forums to address concerns and present their financial plans for the district in a transparent and responsible manner. The challengers have not.
