As many know, the political drama over the failed impeachment attempt against Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton continues. Now, it has taken a new turn. The Republican Party of Texas is calling for the resignation of Texas House Speaker Dade Phelan, who spearheaded the effort to remove Paxton from office.
Lt. Governor Dan Patrick is calling on Speaker Dade Phelan of Beaumont to resign with the special session about to get underway, accusing Phelan of using the war in Israel for his own political gain.
According to Patrick Phelan demanded that elected officials-including Lt. Governor Patrick-return money they received from the group Defend Texas Liberty after The Texas Tribute reported that the PAC had recently hosted well-known white supremacist Nick Fuentes, even though Patrick and other politicians were not at the meeting.
“I didn’t think even Dade Phelan would stoop this low,” Patrick said. “He has now absolutely hit rock bottom. His latest political stunt is disgusting, despicable, and disingenuous. With nearly 1,000 dead and over a hundred kidnapped, anyone who would use the war in Israel for their own political purposes is revolting, repulsive, and repugnant. Nick Fuentes and his anti-Semitic rhetoric have no place in the United States. Those who spew such vile, loathsome, abominations will have to answer for it.”
This past Saturday the state GOP approved a resolution calling on the speaker of the Texas House, Dade Phelan, R-Beaumont, to resign.
