The Grapevine Police Department is investigating a deadly crash that occurred on Friday, August 18, 2023 at the SH-121 and I-635 split. The driver of a sedan was traveling eastbound at approximately 6:45 p.m. when his car hit the concrete barrier.
The sedan caught fire, and bystanders were able to get the driver out of the car. Paramedics performed CPR and transported the man to the hospital, but he was pronounced deceased an hour later. The man was the only person in the car. The medical examiner will release his identity pending notification to next of kin.
Northbound SH-121 is shut down and traffic diverted to eastbound I-635. Several bystanders called 9-1-1 and stopped to render aid following the crash. Grapevine Police want to thank everyone for their compassion and concern, and the Grapevine Fire Department for their tireless efforts to save the man’s life.
