9-1-1 for Kids’ Global Chairman & NFL legend Tim Brown (Hall of Fame Inductee and Heisman Trophy winner) and his wife, Sherice Brown will recognize two Robb Elementary School students and the 9-1-1 dispatcher from the Uvalde Texas school shooting which took place on May 24, 2022 at the annual National 9-1-1 Heroes Awards Ceremony & Press Conference presented by NICE.
The 9-1-1 Heroes Medal of Honor ® is bestowed on an individual who distinguishes himself/herself by courageously calling 9-1-1 to help save a life or property, or to report a crime. Equally as important, this award is presented to the 9-1-1 dispatcher/call-taker that processed the call and dispatched the appropriate emergency response help. The 9-1-1 Heroes Medal of Honor® was created in 1999 in collaboration with the California State Legislature. It is now an international awards program.
9-1-1 for Kids® is the official voice of 9-1-1 caller training and endorsed by: Association of Public Safety Communications Officials, Next Generation 9-1-1 Institute, National Emergency Number Association, National Association of Nine-one-one Administrators, and the California Department of Education.

9-1-1 Youth Hero: Miah Cerillo
9-1-1 Youth Hero: Khloie Torre
9-1-1 Honorary Youth Hero: Amerie Jo Garza (not attending)
9-1-1 Dispatch Hero: Jeanna Santellanes (not attending)
On May 24, 2022, an active shooter opened fire in a school-wide shooting at Robb Elementary School in Uvalde, Texas, Miah Cerillo smeared herself in blood and grabbed her teacher’s phone to call 9-1-1. Khloie Torres and her best friend, Amerie Jo Garza, managed to get a hold of her teacher’s cell phone to also call 9-1-1 for help. Amerie Jo was shot and killed in her attempt. Khloie calldd 9-1-1, whispered information and was pleading for help as she was surrounded by other injured or deceased classmates.
