Last year great strides were made in electing new GCISD Board of Trustees to change the direction of our GCISD schools. The new board implemented policies aligning with the law and education code. Amazing as it seems, there are people who are in opposition to this and GCISD School Board members who actually voted against these new policies. Here are a few examples of the new policies:
- The Board of Trustees implemented a policy to remove age inappropriate materials from GCISD schools that violated the Texas Penal Code. An “opt in” was created for parents to approve material that may be questionable and/or a gray area, giving the power to the parents.
- The Board of Trustees implemented a policy to protect the rights of biological females to use their own bathrooms and changing facilities and included allowing only biological females to participate in women’s sports.
- The Board of Trustees implemented a policy to keep Critical Race Theory (CRT) out of our schools. This policy is also prohibited by Texas state law.
In addition to implementing the above new policies, it was discovered there were millions of dollars wasted along with millions in unallocated funds. The new board addressed teacher pay, security, increased academic standards, lowered taxes and more.
