Enrollment is now open for the 2017-2018 school year
FORT WORTH, Texas June 8, 2017
Hill School, a Fort Worth college preparatory, full-service school for students who learn differently, will be launching its first-ever kindergarten class, starting in August for the 2017-2018 school year.
Hill School’s kindergarten program will focus on:
- Intensive multisensory language instruction, specifically early reading skills taught by Orton-Gillingham-trained teachers,
- Guided mathematics, which will grow early math skills and concepts using manipulatives with an individualized or small group approach, and,
- Social skills through social thinking initiatives, teaching students how to learn, engage, and build relationships in a school environment.
“It’s a natural extension for Hill School, since more students are being identified with learning differences, such as ADHD, high-functioning autism, or language and processing disorders, at a young age,” said Roxann Breyer, Hill School’s head of school. “Early interventions have the most impact, and by starting with the youngest learners, students may gain the strategies and skills needed to transition into a more traditional school environment after just a few years at Hill School.”
The kindergarten program will be led by Erin Zagotti, one of Hill School’s current lower school teachers. Her experience includes teaching pre-kindergarten students with disabilities in a Florida public school district for four years before teaching first and second graders at Hill School.
Hill School’s kindergarten program will be taking no more than 10 students to ensure an enhanced learning experience in a tight-knit community. Parents interested in learning more about the program are encouraged to contact Linda Sherlock, director of enrollment, at lsherlock@hillschool.org.
