Tarrant County, March 27, 2017
On Sunday March 26, 2017 ICE conducted an investigation at the Tarrant County Cold Springs Detention Facility where Labor Detail operates out of. ICE investigated a large number of individuals who were reporting to the facility for Labor Detail. ICE chose to detain 26 people for further investigation at their facilities. The individuals that were looked at were all charged with high-level misdemeanors and low-level felonies such as; DWI, theft, or assault.
Labor Detail is a program that Judges in the County may order for inmates to serve their sentences. While in this program, a participant is considered in the custody of the Tarrant County Sheriff’s Office.
David McClelland stated, “For the last several years the Sheriff’s Office has had ICE officials in our detention facilities scanning and reviewing information to look for criminals in this country illegally. Unfortunately those services are not provided 24-hours a day and some criminals who enter our detention facilities are adjudicated prior to being looked at by ICE officials.”
