On March 2, 2017 at approximately 2:37 AM, Tarrant County 911 was contacted by a resident who advised that there had been a shooting at 13200 Taylor Frances Lane in Haslet Texas. The Sheriff’s Office dispatched patrol. Patrol arrived on scene at 2:55 AM.
The on scene deputies reported 3 persons had been shot. One individual was deceased and two were still alive, but were unresponsive. Deputies also noted there were four other persons in the residence.
The persons at the residence were James and Michelle Morris, their three children, and 1 adult friend of the family.
Witnesses advised that James Morris entered the residence and shot James Brantley and Michelle R. Morris and then shot himself.
Deceased or Injured:
Deceased: James K. Brantley — white/male DOB: 12/6/1992
Shooter/Suspect: James Lee Morris — white/male DOB: 07/18/1963
Injured: Michelle R. Morris — white/female DOB: 11/15/1966
Both Michelle Morris and James Morris were transported to the hospital and are in the Critical Care unit.
Four other individuals were in the residence, two juveniles and two adults. These individuals were not harmed. The juveniles were released to relatives.
When asked, Senior Chief Mike Simonds said, “Mr. Morris is currently in critical condition from an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound. At this time the Sheriff’s Office is not seeking any other suspects in this case.”
