Colleyville, Texas November 4, 2016
At approximately 2:42 p.m. on Nov. 3, 2016, Colleyville Heritage High School staff received a tip from a fellow student regarding a 16-year-old male student in possession of a handgun. The School Resource Officer and the school principal contacted the student and searched the student’s backpack. Officials discovered a .45 caliber Remington semi-automatic handgun. The weapon was not loaded however there was ammunition in the backpack. Police determined the weapon belonged to a family member. The student will be charged with Places Weapons Prohibited, 46.04 PC, a third degree felony.
The investigation determined no threats were made by the student at any time. Colleyville Police will not release the student’s name or photo because he is a juvenile.
