Grapevine, Texas November 16, 2016

This past weekend was my son’s 3rd grade team’s Super Bowl game – or at least it was supposed to be. Late Friday night we were notified that the opposing team had forfeited. My husband is the coach and we knew the boys would be so upset. See, they had gone undefeated in the regular season, but had lost their first playoff game. This was the game to redeem themselves and end on a high note. But, there was nothing we could do.
The next morning my husband got up with a plan, maybe we could get some of the high school kids to help. Rarely do you get to be part of something as special as this turned out to be. Through the help of various people in the community and the support of the Grapevine High School coaches, there were over 30 mustangs that showed up to be the opponent for our 3rd graders.
I don’t want to ruin the ending, but the 3rd graders played hard and beat the mustangs 20-13 and not a lot of teams can say they beat this team.`
I cannot express enough gratitude to the coaches that helped spread the word, the players that showed up and the fans that came to watch this incredible event. It was probably the best game I’ve seen all season. The adoration these 3rd graders had for the big boys was priceless – there were autographs being signed after the game.
This is community folks! I hope you take the time to watch the video, it gives you a glimpse of how amazing this event was;
