The Mean Green North Texas (0-1, 0-0 Conference USA) began the 2016 season like last season with a non-conference loss to the SMU Mustangs (1-0) this time by a score of 34-21. The only difference was this year’s loss was at home and not on the road. The third largest crowd in Apogee Stadium history of 24,718 turned out Sep. 3 to be present at the first game coached by new head coach Seth Littrell. This was SMU’s first win in Denton. It was just the fourth time the Mustangs had played the Mean Green in Denton. North Texas game will be another non-conference game against Bethune Cookman on Saturday, Sept. 10, at 6 p.m. at Apogee Stadium.
