I have seen many attacks on the victims in the Merrick case on various news outlets. How easy it is for parents in the volleyball community in Grapevine and surrounding areas to ignore the facts surrounding this man.
He is an accused rapist, thief and liar. He took other peoples daughters without their knowledge to hotels (confirmed by gps), supplied and condoned drug use (confirmed by text and photographs), and used his own daughter to help him. It is shameful that some of the teenage friends of Mr. Merrick are still being allowed to socialize and hang out at his new residence, although they are now 17 and he is no longer breaking his bond conditions. It seems he has not changed his ways at all. I hope the families share the court documents at some point so everyone can see what a sick and demented person he really is.
I hope people like “Kristi” who has only known this family for a few years prior to these incidents taking place, sits in the courtroom to hear the actual testimony and facts. She has sat by his side during pretrial hearings so I hope to see her face during trial. I have actually known the victims and their families for two decades. They certainly did nothing to provoke Mr. Merrick’s disgusting behavior. These were children entrusted with a coach. A coach who they trusted 100 percent. Victim blaming has been too easy for Damian supporters when they have not seen the facts nor do they know the families involved. There is a long list of witnesses and I hope people like “Kristi” come to their senses. Especially when they have children of their own to protect. I consider her a victim just like a few others who so readily defend him when they really hardly know him.
Then again those of us who knew Mr. Merrick for 20+ years hardly knew him either. Many lies have surfaced. The people that defend him have either 1. Done drugs with him 2. Have only known him for a short period of time or 3. Only concern themselves with the upcoming Grapevine Varsity Volleyball season and don’t want to talk about it. For the rest of us who have known this family, put up with their bullying and seen their continued lack of taking responsibility for their actions, there is no doubt in our minds what actually happened here. I also hope the new Grapevine High School volleyball coach randomly drug tests the players. Too much has been overlooked through this entire regrettable situation. Just keep in mind this man had a 15 year old (fifteen only by a few days) and 16 year old girls in his possession without the parents knowledge or permission. At hotels at that. Without his daughter present. This was a coach, school volunteer, friend, and parent. How can any parent in their right mind allow their child to be in the presence of this man? 17 or not they are still children. I just don’t understand how you can place blame on anyone but Mr. Merrick. Shame on YOU! Thank you LNO for keeping us updated on this very dangerous man who is still up to his old tricks.
