The Grapevine Mustangs (35-6) defeated the Alamo Heights Mules (27-8) 9-2 to win the State 5A Championship game played June 10 in Round Rock at Dell Diamond Field. The win was the first ever State Baseball Championship for the Mustangs. Grapevine junior right-hander, Connor Neuman, (7-1) got the complete-game win and was named championship game MVP. He struck out seven and gave up just one walk. He also got a hit, two walks and scored twice.
