The “ProtectColleyville PAC” after publishing false narratives last year about Glade Road Improvements, have decided to deploy another tactic desperately designed to keep the status quo and the long serving incumbents in office.
That’s right sinister groups from Austin and Dallas are pouring into the City of Colleyville to wrestle away from office those like Kelley, Mogged and Wollin, well at least that’s this year’s Bogeyman. Last year it was a dangerous Glade Road, with a False Narrative lead by Councilman Mogged that accidents had been peaking at a 31% increase clip; although via LNO’s open records information it was proven that Chief Mike Holder debunked that fabrication with an email to the City Manager and Mogged.
“If these challengers win, state and federal politics will intrude upon our community and what follows will be a negative impact on our economic stability, schools, infrastructure and neighborhoods.” First with the evidence of liberal, democrats that have poured thousands upon thousands of dollars into this PAC the last two years; it seems the big government guys that want to build 10 ft sidewalks at the expense of hundreds of trees and have grown high density in Colleyville at an alarming trend are the ones doing the finger pointing.
This is so absurd it really doesn’t deserve any coverage, but it clearly demonstrates the divisiveness that the incumbents are willing to undertake to stay in office.
Since the sinister people from Austin and Dallas are evidently some “radical” conservatives; anyone that follows politics in Texas, knows there ain’t much of that in Austin or Dallas. So WHO IS “Punking” who here?
This was the big lie from the 2015 election cycle by the same group, when in fact accidents had been reduced by 13% since 2009!
Now let’s review what the incumbents are laying claim to, as if they were the driving force behind these events!
1.) Incumbents brag about the City’s AAA rating. Colleyville has carried this rating since 1999, considerably before any of the incumbents where in office.
2.) Incumbent taking credit for the commercial entities along Hwy 26. Whole Foods in Colleyville Downs was given more than $2 million in incentives to locate in Colleyville. So where did the incentive money actually come from? The Tax Increment Financing District. This district was formed with the efforts of Bob Stripling, City Manager, Nelson Thibodeaux, Mayor Pro Tem and Richard Newton Mayor. This is the ONLY TIF the city has ever had and the incumbents had nothing to do with the planning and formation of this TIF.
3.) Incumbents taking credit for the safety of our city. Once again the incumbents were no where around when Citizen Dennis Johnson and Councilman Nelson Thibodeaux presented the opportunity, voted overwhelmingly by Colleyville citizens TWICE, to establish a crime district in Colleyville with a 1/2 cent tax. THIS is the funds that built the Justice Center and the New Police Headquarters, as well as, that has help outfit our police officers with state of the art equipment and increased citizens safety.
In fact, well before the incumbents the efforts to modernize our police began in 1999.
This was the police station in 1999 when Mayor Newton and others launched the Crime District that built this beautiful new facility.
The old station had no locker rooms, no where to safely park cars or jail facilities. Once again incumbents are attempting to take credit for inheriting these advances, not creating them.
