Dear Colleyville Resident,
This week the Colleyville City Council incumbents, thru their special interest group “Protect Colleyville”, released a completely untruthful, non-serious cartoon about a very serious race. Once again we see David Kelly, Chuck Mogged, and Carol Wollin align themselves with Protect Colleyville fringe PAC to obfuscate and deflect from the real issues facing Colleyville.
Desperate attacks mean only one thing – they don’t think their candidates can run on their merits and win. Which begs the questions — Why do they support them in the first place?
The most telling thing about the cartoon is they only address one real issue – our water rates. Oddly enough the incumbents believe that there is nothing wrong with our water bills. Since the vendor who created the cartoon for Protect Colleyville PAC is a liberal organization out of Canada – maybe they haven’t seen our water bills. Colleyville residents are experiencing disproportionately high water bills – and the reasons for that fall directly at City Hall. Tammy, Bobby and Richard want to talk about the tiered rates, multiple rate increases and how they are affecting Colleyville. Will the incumbents?
The PAC wants to talk about outside influence and we are happy to have that conversation. What the PAC doesn’t mention is that the incumbents have taken money from the DFW real estate lobbying group, MetroTex PAC, and that the Kelly family is in the real estate business themselves in Colleyville. That’s what these incumbents are desperately protecting. Like all things in politics simply follow the money and who benefits.
The issues are real. Our out of control water bills are real. The push for higher residential density and impact of the new Comprehensive Plan is real. City Hall’s push to fundamentally change Colleyville at the behest of the real estate development lobby is real. This is a very serious election cycle. These issues should not be reduced to a cartoon. We should not allow the incumbents to get away with their favorite tactic of deflect and deny so they can avoid talking about the issues and defending their poor voting records.
Given the fact that “Protect Colleyville PAC’s” stated purpose is to protect the incumbents, we will not be attending their event tomorrow evening. We do however continue to make ourselves available to all voters and residents of Colleyville. Tomorrow night from 6 till 7:30 we will instead be meeting voters at NEXT Bistro located at 5003 Colleyville Boulevard. This will be a casual time where you can talk directly with the candidates, ask any question you may have. No moderators, no rules, just fellow Colleyville residents talking about the very real issues facing our great town. We look forward to meeting you at NEXT Bistro Monday night.
We are for better government, less politics, citizen representation and not politicians. Let’s put Colleyville government back in the hands of our residents and taxpayers.
Bobby Lindamood, Candidate for Place 2 Colleyville City Council
