The city that proudly pairs big-city comforts with small-town charm is taking steps to get a little more charming with help from retail consulting firm The Retail Coach.
“For the past year, our Economic Development Board and City Council have been creating a strategic vision for Keller’s various ‘economic engines,’ which has helped fuel our exploding commercial growth. We knew we needed a specialized partner to help attract quality, dream retail brands to Keller, though, and we found just the right partner to help with that. The Retail Coach has local and national knowledge of retail brands and also understands Keller’s unique character, and we’re confident they will use their relationships and data to bring the right retailers to the right locations.” Mayor Mark Mathews said.
The nation’s premier retail consulting firm, with 86 percent repeat clients and experience in 29 states, The Retail Coach has the experience and expertise to assist Keller in our search for more retail opportunities. The city’s goals for this project include redeveloping FM 1709/Keller Parkway into a unique retail destination by recruiting regional and national brands, and promoting the expansion and retention of existing Keller businesses to further expand the city’s sales tax base.
“We want every business that comes to Keller to prosper for years to come. We are confident that The Retail Coach can provide us with the best information available and the contacts necessary to ensure that every business we attract is the perfect match for the Keller community.” said Trina Zais, director of public services and economic development.
Retail Study Components
To find that perfect match, The Retail Coach will conduct a series of analyses on the retail landscape in Keller as well as the surrounding communities.
The team will start by determining the Retail Trade Area, or the region from which the city is drawing most of its consumers. This will be followed by a Gap Analysis, which will identify sales leakage to other communities.
Additionally, The Retail Coach will create a Psychographic Profile of the community by studying the residents’ values and how they affect their spending habits.
Aaron Fanner, Vice President of The Retail Coach, will spearhead the project. Farmer has extensive experience in the retail recruitment industry as well as ties to the Keller community.
“Because I grew up in Keller and my parents still live here, I am particularly excited about working with the City of Keller to enhance the options of retail, restaurants and entertainment for the citizens of the community,” Fanner said. “With a very large retail trade area and strong household incomes, Keller will be intriguing to many of the retailers and developers we reach out to.”
