Economic Report by Colleyville’s Director Economic Development, Marty Weider
The recent successes of Marty Weider, in his efforts to bring additional businesses to Colleyville, have created a Renascence of sorts with new businesses locating in the City virtually every month. Undoubtedly this is the most active the city has been in its Economic Development in certainly the last 15 years. While there are some that have criticized the $3 million in TIF funds allocated for the redevelopment of Colleyville Downs and the enticement of Whole Foods, certainly the new restaurants that have opened on pads in front of the center is, at minimum, at mini-boom in Colleyville.
While the Whole Foods facility does not appear that it has been able to sustain the original excitement and traffic; there is no question the developers of this center, have welcomed the efforts of Colleyville’s Economic Development efforts. Life Time Fitness previously received a $2 million incentive which appears to be a bargain based on it’s ability to create traffic to the immediate area.

Snuffer’s Restaurant & Bar in Colleyville has only been open since November, but it has already given back generously to the local community on several occasions.
Most recently, the popular restaurant known for its signature menu of legendary Burgers and famous Cheddar Fries hosted a Benefit Night to raise funds for Stupid Strong, a North Texas-based not-for-profit organization dedicated to raising awareness about gastric cancer, advancing funding for research, and providing education and support to families in need.
The event was held on Tuesday, Feb. 9, with 15 percent of sales between 5:30 and 8:30 p.m. donated to the charity.
Along with direct donations, Snuffer’s General Manager David Kraus and his team raised $1,156.14 for Stupid Strong at the event.
“We are so grateful to Snuffer’s for the tremendous support and for going the extra mile to host this event benefiting Stupid Strong,” said Candace Netzer, President of Stupid Strong. “Everyone that came by not only enjoyed an awesome meal, but also learned a little bit about the battle so many people are waging against this terrible disease. Research equals survival. One hundred percent of proceeds raised in collaboration with Snuffer’s will be directed to critical stomach cancer research.”
According to the National Cancer Institute, more than 26,000 new cases of stomach cancer will be diagnosed this year in the U.S. and almost half will die within the first year. Because of the smaller number of cases relative to other cancers, it receives very little federal funding and few resources devoted to researching a cure. StupidStrong.org exists for the purpose of making the cure for stomach cancer a reality.
“We were really inspired by Candace’s story and the work she and the community have done through Stupid Strong to fight stomach cancer,” said Kraus. “On behalf of all our employees and guests, we are very proud to partner with them on this event and we know the funds will be used to advance a very important cause.”
The Colleyville Snuffer’s is located at 4717 Colleyville Blvd. in the Colleyville Downs shopping center near Whole Foods. It is open from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m., Sunday through Thursday, and 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. Friday and Saturday. It is one of nine locations in the Snuffer’s family of restaurants.
