Handbook of Texas Music Launched
“Texans have given American music its distinctive voice, and that’s no brag, just fact,” according to Casey Monahan, Director of the Texas Music Office, 1990-2015. To provide easily accessible information about the Lone Star State’s musical contributions, TSHA proudly announces the launch of the Handbook of Texas Music Online.
Peruse almost 900 online entries—from “Ace in the Hole” to “ZZ Top.” More than 250 images and counting enhance the text. Hear audio clips of many of the songs that provide the soundtrack of Texas. Sights and sounds of such legendary groups as the Light Crust Doughboys, the Soul Stirrers, and the Texas Tornados come alive with many images and audio clips.
