United to match guests’ first $10,000 in donations
Beginning Saturday, guests of all United Family® stores in West Texas, Dallas-Fort Worth and New Mexico will have the opportunity to participate in relief efforts for victims of the recent earthquake in Kathmandu, Nepal, by making donations in-store.
From Saturday, May 2 through Sunday, May 10, guests can support the relief effort by adding a financial contribution of $1 or more to their bill during checkout at any United Supermarkets, Market Street, Amigos, United Express and Albertsons Market locations.
“The damage done by the recent earthquake in Nepal is truly devastating and The United Family is honored to support Breedlove Foods’ efforts to ship their Harvest Lentil Soup Blend to victims,” said Robert Taylor, president of The United Family. “We are fortunate to have a dehydration plant in our trade area that is well equipped to respond quickly in times of disaster in order to feed millions. We encourage guests to participate in the opportunity to offer relief to this distraught region through a donation in-store.”
The United Family will match the first $10,000 donated by store guests, in order to support Lubbock-based Breedlove Foods’ efforts to prepare and ship more than one million servings of food to earthquake victims.
At last report, the magnitude-7.8 earthquake resulted in more than 5,500 deaths and at least 11,400 injuries.
