I am a six year Colleyville resident, on Scarborough Lane, and was shocked at the dirty political tactics of some of the members of the city council (and probably the Mayor) working to defeat the Glade Road Resolution. Your news site provides a valuable service to the community as a voice of concerned opposition. Thank you for that effort.
The election is over and the “powers that be” prevailed, but hopefully those who have violated the rules will be sanctioned. We really need to reform the manner in which city government conducts business. As a result of the Glade Road issues and the political tactics used to defeat the Resolution, we watched the city become badly divided and the Council lose the trust of a significant sector of the electorate. In observing the conduct of council members who campaigned to defeat the Resolution, probable violations of the Texas Sunshine statutes have occurred. It seems clear that there were “walking quorums” including, at various times, Mssrs. Mogged, Hart, Taylor, & Short (and probably Mayor Kelly) discussing and actively participating in the campaign to defeat the resolution.
There needs to be an investigation by the Texas Ethics Commission and the Texas Attorney General’s office. You have more local experience than most and I am interested in your thoughts on this election, the behavior of those involved. You may reach me at the above e-mail address, I look forward to your response.
