May 8, 2015 North Richland Hills
The City of North Richland Hills reminds residents to vaccinate their pets following confirmation of a case of rabies within the city limits. The Texas department of State Health Services Zoonosis Control confirmed on May 6, 2015 that a deceased skunk found in the 7100 block of douglas Lane tested positive for rabies.
The city reminds the public to take the following precautions:
*Vaccinate your pets. Rabies vaccinations are required by city ordinance. Keeping your pets vaccinated protects you and them.
* Obey the city’s leash law and restrain your pets so they do not come in contact with wild animals; do not allow them to roam. Seek veterinary assistance if your pet is bitten by a wild animal.
*Avoid contact with wild animals and with dogs and cats you do not know. Do not feed wild animals and do not keep them as pets.
*Do not touch sick or injured animals. Report sick or injured animals to the NRH Animal Adoption & Rescue Center at 817-427-6570.
